2025-26 Mohawk College Board of Governors Student Representative Election

Looking for ways to get involved? Want to make a difference? We need a student to represent all Mohawk College students and sit on our college Board of Governors for a one-year term.

What does a Student Representative do?

As a Student Representative on our Board of Governors, you would attend all Board of Governors meetings and retreats; you would be the voice of all Mohawk College students and would represent student interests at all meetings; you would provide input on the college’s strategic direction and goals; you would assist in monitoring college operations and performance; and you would assist in assessing college projects and proposals.

Why should I apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to add real-world experience, knowledge and skills to your resume, while meeting and learning from leaders in the Hamilton community. This is your chance to make an impact at the college and apply your leadership skills in a supportive learning environment.

Time Commitment

The Board of Governors meets seven times in a year (five meetings and two strategic planning retreats), and each meeting typically lasts four hours. As the student representative, you will be expected to attend and participate in all meetings, and do any pre-reading of materials as preparation.

How do I apply?

Beginning February 7, interested students can request a Nomination Form and Candidate Questionnaire by emailing studentservices [at] mohawkcollege.ca (studentservices[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca), download the Student Governor Package (PDF 116KB), or can pick up these forms in person at any of the following locations:

  • Student Life Office, Room C118 at Stoney Creek Campus

  • Mississauga Campus, Front Desk (Exterior Entrance)

Students must collect 25 signatures of support in order to be a successful candidate. A completed Nomination Form and Candidate Questionnaire must be submitted by February 25 at 4 pm (either to studentservices [at] mohawkcollege.ca (studentservices[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca) or to any of the locations noted above) in order to be considered.

Successful candidates will campaign during the period from March 8 through to March 19. A student election for the Student Representative position will occur between March 24 through March 27. Results will be posted on March 31.
