Dr. Robin Hesler has volunteered and held senior positions, provincially, nationally, and internationally in the field of Radiography. He most recently served as the Regional Education Coordinator for the Americas for the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT), the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS), and the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Foundation. He was President and CEO of OAMRS for many years, where he was involved in developing the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act and championed its modernization. He also served on key Ontario government committees regarding the development of the Regulated Health Professions Act, its Regulations, and its later review, along with sitting on CT, MRI and occupational health and safety committees.
Dr. Hesler has long been associated with Mohawk College’s Medical radiation sciences program and is currently a member of the program advisory committee and a past chair. Dr. Hesler helped bring Radiography to northern communities, first through the Mohawk-McMaster Basic Radiography Worker (BRW) Program and later through the OAMRS's Basic Radiological Technician (BRT) Program in northern Ontario, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, which empowered Indigenous health care providers to train and provide diagnostic services to their communities.
Through his attention to detail, passion for the profession and seemingly unlimited energy, Dr. Hesler has changed the Medical Radiology profession for the better.
