Karen Laurin is a professor in Computer Science and Information Technology and Cyber Security.  Karen is also the Software Coordinator for the Computer Systems - Software programs.

Before teaching Karen worked in various roles as a software developer, including working on Computer Aided Dispatch Systems for E911 at Bell Canada.  She has also worked on systems that manage aircraft maintenance, as well as a learning management system for elementary schools.

Karen’s area of interest includes Software Quality and Testing, Software Engineering, Algorithms and Data Structures and Social Engineering.

Karen holds the following educational and professional designations: 

  • Bachelor of Software Engineering

  • Master of Applied Science – Electrical Engineering 
    Thesis: “The Development of a Semi-Automated Testing Method for Medical Imaging Systems 
    Carleton University, 2010 
  • Professional Engineers of Ontario License (Non – practicing)
