Phyllis Hostin is a Professor in the Office Administration Legal program and proud honours graduate of this program. She has diverse experience in the legal field and has held positions as a senior legal administrative assistant primarily in the Litigation, Estates, and Family areas of law, and as a senior litigation law clerk in both Hamilton and Toronto. As a professional, freelance court reporter in the Toronto region, Phyllis’ extensive experience included the verbatim reporting and production of transcripts of legal proceedings in the Ontario Courts, including Discoveries, U.S. Depositions held in Ontario, disciplinary hearings at the Law Society of Ontario and the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and at various board hearings, tribunals, and arbitrations.
Phyllis is constantly networking and liaising with the local legal community. She has a focused approach to experiential and simulated-based learning by applying relevant course learning materials and specialized legal software. Phyllis is thrilled to support, motivate, and empower her students to achieve exciting and challenging careers as legal administrative assistants.
Phyllis has been with the McKeil School of Business at Mohawk College since 2000, where she is currently a professor and coordinator in the Office Administration – Legal program.
