Sheva Leon is faculty in the Child and Youth Care (CYC) program. She is an honours graduate of the Humber College CYC program and holds a MSc of Child and Youth Care Studies from the University of Strathclyde. Sheva is currently a Board Member of the Child and Youth Care Educational Accreditation Board.
Prior to her career at Mohawk Sheva worked with children and youth, internationally and locally, with a range of experiences in the following sectors:
- public schools
- international boarding schools
- drop-in youth centres & community centers
- mental health residential care facilities
- hospitals
Sheva is a recipient of the Krista Sepp Horizon Award (2011) and has been serving as a licensed suicide intervention trainer since 2013 (Applied Suicide and Intervention Skills & safeTALK). She is passionate about education and sees her role as a not only a ‘transmitter of knowledge’, but a ‘facilitator of knowledge’; recognizing that students arrive with a wealth of knowledge that, in a supportive environment, can enrich the learning for all.
