I have had the opportunity to work in almost every position in the visual effects and 3D animation pipeline – including Director, Animation Director, Animator, Layout Artist, Lighter, Compositor, etc. – for major film studios and television production companies. Way back when Saturday morning cartoons were still a thing, I helped to make popular children shows like The Magic School Bus, Arthur, and The Neverending Story. As well as action films like Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Batman & Robin.
The greatest thing about working in animation is the diversity of projects and people you get to work with. I have the honour of working at a variety of studios - including The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., Nelvana, C.O.R.E., March Entertainment, Red Rover Studios, Pipeline Studios, etc. – with amazingly talented people, creating films, television shows, commercials and even venturing into VR/AR, gaming, and freelance 3D animation.
The opportunity to expand my skills into mentoring and teaching started in 2013. Here I was able to share my experiences and knowledge with our new generation of animation professionals. In addition to my Classical Animation Diploma and 3D Animation graduate certificate from Sheridan College, I obtained my Master of Digital Media from Toronto Metropolitan University to have the skills to better teach my students. Since then, I have been a faculty member, program coordinator, and animation and gaming program and curriculum developer at several post-secondary institutions in Southern Ontario. I have been a full-time Animation Professor with Mohawk College since 2019.
