Each year, a Student Governor is elected or appointed to sit on the Mohawk College Board of Governors. The role of the Student Governor is to represent the voice and interests of all Mohawk College students at the Mohawk College Board of Governor meetings. The Student Governor also provides input on the college’s strategic direction and goals, assists in monitoring college operations and performance, and assists in assessing college projects and proposals.
We are pleased to announce that your Student Governor for the 2025 – 2026 year is Aleksia Jankovic.
Aleksia Jankovic
My name is Aleksia Jankovic, and I’m excited for the opportunity to represent Mohawk students on the Board of Governors.
I was born in Serbia and have spent every summer there—experiences that have shaped my identity and given me a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and connection. Now, as a student in the Advertising and Marketing Communications program, I bring a voice rooted in creativity, cross-cultural understanding, and a strong sense of community.
Outside of my education, I volunteer with both children and older adults, as well as with cultural and faith-based organizations. On campus, I founded Ekipa—the Balkan and European student community at Mohawk, created to connect and support students of European heritage.
I believe every student deserves to feel like they belong. I’m committed to inclusive leadership, compassionate action, and helping students take charge of their own experience on campus. As Student Governor, I’ll listen closely, advocate with purpose, and make sure student voices are at the table.
