Crystal Winchester
Professor, Mohawk College | Indigenous Community Liaison Officer, Correctional Services of Canada
Crystal Winchester is deeply committed to advancing Indigenous education and promoting representation across multiple domains.
With a distinguished background in provincial and federal corrections, Crystal has prioritized the integration of her Indigenous heritage into her professional endeavors. Currently serving as the Indigenous community liaison officer within the Correctional Service of Canada, she has demonstrated leadership throughout her career as a parole officer, correctional program officer and project officer within the national headquarters.
Crystal's contributions include the development of comprehensive national training standards for Indigenous employees. Within the Department of Social Services and Justice Studies at Mohawk College, she nurtures the growth of future professionals as a respected professor.
Crystal's commitment to community engagement is reflected in her extensive volunteering within the non-profit sector, where she contributes to various organizations in the Hamilton community. In addition to her diploma from Mohawk College Crystal has also achieved a bachelor of arts degree in criminology and contemporary studies.
