Police Constable, Brantford Police Service Town Councillor, Town of Milton

Adil Khalqi is making the most of his education. Just four years out of college, he is both a Police Constable with the Brantford Police Service and a Town Councillor in the Town of Milton.

After graduating Police Foundations in 2019 and Advanced Police Studies in 2020, Adil’s passion for public service led him towards being hired on as a Police Constable with the Brantford Police Service in 2021. He takes pride in the hard work that it takes to foster community safety and well-being.

Just one year after he became a Police Constable, he was nominated for a Police Association of Ontario Police Hero Award in the Community Role Model category. The award recognizes officers or civilian employees for going above and beyond the call of duty. Adil was nominated by a high school student he is mentoring.

Adil extended his dedication to public service, by running for Town Council in the 2022 Milton Municipal Election. Adil was elected to Milton Town Council in October 2022, becoming the youngest Councillor to ever be elected in his municipality. Adil’s election platform included pacing growth to match infrastructure and public services capability, improving road safety and having diverse, young and engaged leaders elected to Council. Adil is committed to ensuring he builds positive relationships with his residents, and his community. Adil believes that engaging with, and listening to residents is fundamental towards being a strong and successful leader.

Adil’s commitment towards community engagement and service began when he was 10 years old, which is when he first began volunteering in the various communities he belongs to. Amassing 1000+ hours of volunteer work; Adil has, and continues to volunteer with numerous organizations such as; MADD Halton, Crime Stoppers of Halton, Milton Navy League Cadets, food banks, charity fundraisers, political campaigns and more.

Adil aspires to be a role model for other young people to help them become leaders in their community and prides himself on mentoring youth to achieve their utmost potential. Adil champions the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion; and believes that people’s differences serve as an asset towards any chosen career or personal endeavour.

My parents came here with 80 Deutschmarks (approximately $67 CDN at the time) and we [arrived in] Quebec to restart our lives.”
