The Alumni of Distinction awards recognize graduates for their career achievements and community contributions that are an exceptional source of inspiration for future generations.

There are ten award categories: Affinity, Business, Community Services, Creative Arts & Design, Entrepreneur, Health Sciences, Mohawk College Employee, Recent Graduate, Skilled Trades/Apprenticeship and Technology.

Who is an Alumni of Distinction Award Recipient?

An Alumni of Distinction Award Recipient has made a commitment and a significant difference in their community by showing vision, creativity and initiative. This individual may have:

  • Made an impact in their chosen field of endeavour
  • Been a role model and inspired others through their leadership
  • Participated as a volunteer
  • Assisted others to be successful in their achievements

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible to receive an Alumni of Distinction Award nominees must:

  • Graduate from a certificate and/or Diploma program from Mohawk College or its predecessors (HIT and PIT) up until the year of 2025
  • Contribute to their community
  • Posthumous nominations are accepted

What is the Selection Process?

All nominations will be reviewed and a shortlist of 2025 nominees will be established.

A selection committee representing a cross-section of Past Alumni of Distinction Award Recipients, Community Leaders, Human Resources Professionals, Students and the Mohawk College Alumni Advisory Council will review the shortlist and rate all nominees based on Career Achievement, Industry Leadership and Personal Contributions to the Community.

The Selection Committee's ratings will be presented to Mohawk's Executive Group for review and final selection of the recipients.

The Award Celebration

Alumni of Distinction Recipients will be presented their award at a celebration dinner in the fall of 2025.

In honour of every recipient, the Alumni Association supports a named bursary/scholarship with a one-time donation of $1000 to Mohawk College to support current students in achieving their goals.
