Begin Well Do Well is a one day transition program being hosted by Accessible Learning Services (ALS) for first year students with accessibility needs.
Workshops are designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of learning strategies, accommodations, and supports that can help with the transition to college.
Begin Well Do Well sessions are being offered this year in-person at the Mohawk’s Fennell Campus in the room EA006.
This course is designed as an in-person and online transition program that helps you to be more prepared, informed, and confident as you begin your post-secondary studies. It is designed with all students in mind, no matter your background or who you are. Anyone who registers will have access to the online content.
Post-secondary education features reduced student-teacher contact and supervision, greater academic competition, reduced personal support networks, and greater overall expectations than many previous student experiences. Challenges specific to marginalized populations create a host of other unique issues that may interfere with the ability of these students to successfully transition to the post-secondary environment.
In this course, you will be introduced to multiple self-paced modules that cover topics like understanding your strengths and weaknesses, navigating the post-secondary expectations, best practices for communicating with faculty, available academic and personal supports, suggestions on managing finances, keeping your health in mind, and more.
In this workshop, you will learn about:
