Online Learning

Online learning courses provide you with the opportunity to learn online, anywhere, at your convenience! You can study at home or at work - wherever you like, whenever you like, within a predetermined time frame.

Courses are delivered over a set time period and are led by instructors. Most courses do not require that you be online at a certain time of day or night, but that you are active in the course during the schedule. There are scheduled start and end dates and you cannot start courses late nor finish early.

Access course content, materials, and resources online, at your convenience.
Flexibility to manage school, family, work and other commitments.
Connect and collaborate with classmates and instructors online.
Participate in learning and assessment activities using a range of online tools and apps.
Develop the skills to work independently, and as part of a collaborative team, to solve real-world problems.

To be successful in an online learning environment you will require:

A reliable internet connection in order to access your courses, participate in lectures or view recordings and complete assessments.
Access to a personal computer (PC) or Macintosh (Mac) computer and a browser that supports graphics. While mobile devices may allow some participation in courses, they are not guaranteed to allow full participation.
View recommendations for operating systems and internet browsers for MyCanvas and computer and technical requirements for OntarioLearn (opens in new window).
External webcam/microphone/speakers (if laptop/desktop does not have these built-in).

Some programs have specific or additional technology requirements such as an iPad, or additional software or hardware. Please ensure you check your program webpage or the course description for information on any additional requirements.

Alternatively, the college has a limited number of laptops and Chromebooks for loan to students who do not have access to online learning from home. Borrow a laptop or Chromebook through the Information Technology Self-Service Portal.
