Primary duties
Primary Job Duties
- Review and analyze material requirements daily to enable the creation of purchase orders and warehouse transfers on a defined set of suppliers and product categories.
- Set expectations with key suppliers regarding communication, performance, responsiveness, and other key facets of the working relationship.
- Participate and take action on “National Purchasing & Inventory Initiatives” as directed and/or requested by the Purchasing Manager.
- Ensure system data integrity regarding item forecast, supplier lead times, and other critical order and replenishment parameters.
- Drive best-in-class customer fill rates while ensuring optimal levels of inventory.
- Monitor inventory levels and sales trends, then take the appropriate action to minimize the risk of excess inventory and obsolescence, as well as initiate
- Inventory returns, PO cancellations, internal transfers, etc.
Communicate with sales and warehouse personnel to determine incoming material requirements, calculates materials required; requisitions materials and establish delivery dates, complete necessary documentation
Secondary Job Duties
- Maintain relationships with a defined set of suppliers, establishing a foundation of trust, open communication, and accountability.
- Participate in meetings with key suppliers and to provide feedback on performance and set improvement targets for the future
- Support the National Purchasing Manager and procurement team with escalations related to critical items, shortages, and customers
- Support the National Purchasing Manager and procurement team with escalations related to receiving discrepancies (i.e., overages, shortages, damaged)
- Play a key role in the business change management process, phasing in new items and phasing out the old.
- To organize and assist with warehouse physical inventory as required/requested
- To prepare and generate spreadsheets and reports as require/requested
- Participate in the Company Health and Safety Program; to undertake training as required/requested; to ensure adherence to all Health and Safety guideline
- Other duties as assigned
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid organizational skills with ability to multi task and prioritize
- High degree of accuracy with attention to detail aptitude
- Excellent mathematical skills
Computer literate –Advanced Microsoft office suite product knowledge; Outlook, Excel, Word
Education & Experience
- College diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related discipline. A University degree in these disciplines is an asset
- Certified Supply Chain Professional designation or currently pursuing it
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in supply chain environment with working knowledge of pricing, costing and inventory management
- A combination of education and experience
