Primary duties
This is a seasonal contract position which will take place from June to the end of August. As this is a mobile position, the location is subject to the contractor's desired home base. Training will be taking place in Hamilton and is mandatory to attend.
The primary duties of this position include:
- Travel to and from client homes to teach the Marlin Swim Academy and Lifesaving Society curriculums (Training on MSA curriculum provided)
- Apply, teach and modify the curriculum(s) to fit the needs of each swimmer
- Work with swimmers of all ages and abilities, including swimmers with varying needs
- Communicate with parents/guardians regularly, ensuring swimmer safety and progress
- Attend staff trainings, prior to the contract start and meetings as required during the contract
- Communicate regularly with MSA supervisors to ensure your success in the position, as well as the success of our swimmers in the program
- Complete and hand out progress reports at the end of the client's block of lessons.
The following qualifications are mandatory:
- Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard
- Lifesaving Society Instructor
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
- Standard First Aid + CPR-C
The following are also requirements: - Excellent communication is essential for this position
- Enthusiasm and passion for water safety and instruction
- Minimum of 6 months experience teaching the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life curriculum*
- A vehicle and ability to get to and from client homes within chosen travel area*
- Schedule for the summer will need to be confirmed prior to March 1 in order to get the best chance of having clients sign up with you.
*If you do not meet these requirements, you may wish to apply anyway and ask to be considered for an indoor, permanent location instructor position where you will start training first.
