This week:
"Gender Based Violence Through an Intersectional Lens"
"The City of Winnipeg and the Government of Manitoba invite you to attend a virtual panel discussion in recognition of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25) and The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women (December 6). November 25 also begins 16 days of activism against gender-based violence (GBV), ending on December 10, Human Rights Day. GBV is a violation of human rights that is pervasive in our communities, in Canada and worldwide, and affects people of all backgrounds, genders and ages. Manitoba has a rate of gender-based violence higher than the national average. The rates are twice higher in rural and remote areas than in cities, mainly due to a lack of financial and human resources. Violence also disproportionally affects Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQ+ people. Join us for this thought-provoking, action-oriented panel discussion with local experts and leaders, and learn about our collective part in addressing root causes of GBV."
