Hoop Dance

Hoop Dance

The Indigenous Gathering Place is designed to help Mohawk College strengthen its relationships with the local Indigenous community. The Gathering Place is inspired by Aboriginal concepts of inclusiveness, the sun and moon calendars, the Medicine Wheel and the creation story.

The Hoop Dance serves as a venue for traditional ceremonies, a tool for teaching, a place to meditate or quietly study.

Indigenous Wampum Wall

Indigenous Wampum Wall

The Two Row Wampum Belt Wall, featured in the A-wing of Fennell Campus, was erected to honour the agreement for peaceful coexistence made in the year 1613 between the Haudenosaunee and Dutch settlers in the area.

The wall displays the people who have persevered throughout history to ensure that agreement is upheld.
