SSW Matching Guide

Placement Process

  • This form is completed and submitted to request a field placement opportunity.
  • Field Placement Specialists will match students with an agency opportunity. Their selection will be based on information submitted in this Matching Guide, determining which student would be the best agency/student fit.
  • The agency contact information will be emailed to the student and agency supervisor will be copied in the email.
  • Students are responsible to research the agency, know their client group, arrange an interview, and successfully pass that interview in order to secure the placement.
  • Students are not permitted to contact agencies independently. Any separate arrangement made by a student, will disqualify them from placement at that agency and may jeopardize their opportunity for placement this semester.
  • Students must complete and submit all non-academic requirements to Pre-Placement Services before they are eligible for a placement opportunity.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to identify any conflicts of interest and communicate this on their Matching Guide.
  • Transportation, parking as well as any costs associated with travel to and from field placement are the responsibility of the student.
  • Students may begin placement once they have registered for Field Placement and the semester has started.
  • It is important to note many agencies require students to work a variety of shifts throughout the placement i.e. days, afternoons, weekends.
  • Students are responsible to know and follow the OCSWSSW Code of Ethics, Mohawk Student Code of Conduct, and the Field Placement Guide while they are at their field placement.
