Jason has worked at Mohawk College for the past 15 years. He has been a technologist within the Justice Studies Department since 2019. Jason supports faculty and students with scenario-based experiential learning in the following programs: Police Foundation, Advanced Police Studies, Protection Security and Investigation, and Community and Justice Services. Jason is passionate about educating future police officers and law enforcement professionals.
He is excited to start teaching part-time as a faculty member in January 2024. Jason has 13 years of experience in the security field, working mainly in public sector security roles, retail security, and physical security/close personal protection. Some of Jason's prior volunteer work includes Big Brothers, Hamilton Basketball Association, Camp Erin (grief camp for kids), and Hamilton Police Service. During his tenure at the Lime Ridge Mall Community Policing Centre, he volunteered for a short time before taking on the coordinator role. Jason won the Hamilton Police Service Volunteer of the Year while acting as coordinator.
Jason supports Mohawk College's vision of learning for life. He graduated from Police Foundations with honours and continued his education at Sir Wilfred Laurier University, earning a B.A. (Hons) in Criminology and Contemporary Studies. During Jason's time at Mohawk College, he has acquired various certifications such as American Sign Language, Fire Safety, Concurrent Addictions and Disorders, and Student Affairs and Services. Jason also earned a B. Ed. in Adult Education from Brock University. Jason has training in use of force/de-escalation, EDI, mental health, WHMIS, and understanding & managing aggressive behaviour.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys camping with his family, playing golf, hiking, and cheering on his favorite sports team, the Buffalo Bills.
