Dan MacQueen is a creative professional who is currently a Professor and an Academic Program Coordinator for the Graphic Design Advanced Diploma program at Mohawk College.
Dan has an extensive educational History which includes the following:
- Sheridan College Classical Animation program
- McMaster University Art & Art History program
- Post graduate In-Service Teacher Training Program at St. Clair College
- Is proud to have been the Valedictorian of the first ever graduating class of Graphic Design at Mohawk College. Dan continues to learn new skills and techniques through a dedication for lifelong learning.
Dan has spent over 30 years as a Vector Designer and illustrator, owning and operating a successful Design/Printing business for over 20 years that employed many Mohawk graduates.
With a passion to ‘give back’ and share his skills from his creative journey Dan returned to Mohawk College as a part time instructor in the Graphic Design program in 1999. He has held multiple positions at Mohawk College including:
- Full time Professor and Academic Program Coordinator tasked with developing and launching the post graduate program
- Comic Design and Scripting, which evolved into the current Animation program at Mohawk.
- Full time Professor and Academic Program Coordinator tasked with developing and launching the Art & Design Foundations program.
- Full time Professor and Academic Program Coordinator tasked with re-developing and launching the 3 year Advanced Diploma Graphic Design program.
Dan was also part of a team of college faculty that co-authored the Provincial Academic Standards for Graphic Design programs in Ontario. Dan has mentored dozens of part time and full time faculty who have gone on to provide tremendous support and contributions to the Graphic Design program as well as many other programs at Mohawk College. He has worked for many years as the Academic Program Coordinator for the Graphic Design program, working with a talented team of faculty and staff to help build it to be one of the most successful academic programs at Mohawk College.
Away from Mohawk, Dan enjoys singing and playing guitar, is a classic car enthusiast and is an award winning SteamPunk/Cosplay costume designer.
