Hannah Waller portrait.

While at Mohawk I tried to participate in as many co-curricular activities as possible including being a part of the Career Pathways advisory committee. I was also able to attend the volunteer fair to help build connections with future workplaces. I value the amount of support the college offered to me through Accessible Learning Services and the Learning Support Centre who helped with workshops and tutoring. If it weren't for the Career Pathways program educating me I don't know that I would have been prepared for the Educational Support program I am enrolled in today.

- Hannah W. '19

Tara Mcteer portrait.

I grew up with learning disabilities that were undiagnosed until my mid-20s, which led to a lack of coping skills and accommodations that could have assisted me in my earlier studies. The Career Pathways program has allowed me to develop new learning styles, and overcome obstacles I faced academically, which gave me insight into my skills and strengths, leading me to enjoy learning. I'm graduating this spring and I'm excited about my future, I will be looking for part-time employment and will be applying to university with the confidence that I have all the tools in place to be successful.

- Tara McTeer '22

Haris Ali portrait.

I'm glad I took the Career Pathways program because I like meeting new people and learning new things.  I improved my time management, communication, computer skills, and adaptive technologies.  I have increased my initiative, confidence, and become more positive.  I appreciate all the support from the learning facilitators and adaptive technologist. I'm graduating this spring and look forward to continuing my education at Mohawk College.

- Haris Ali. '23

Tristan Brown portrait.

I really enjoyed my time within the Career Pathways program and I would recommend any student who is unsure of what college program to take to give it a shot. One thing that I really liked about the program is all of the supports built into it. Being able to go a work placement was an amazing opportunity for me to gain some experience that I can put on my resume. Being a part of the program allowed me to better understand my strengths and find the career path that is right for me. I would not have gotten to where I am now if I hadn’t joined the Career Pathways program and I am glad that this was where I spent my first year of college.

- Tristan Brown. '23

Karen Young portrait.

I am a mature Career Pathway student referred by the Indigenous program " Homeward Bound".  During my time spent with Career Pathways I've improved my time management, computer, and professionalism skills, with the support of all my professors, Learning Facilitators, and Adaptive technologists. I'm looking forward to entering the Supportive Care Assistant program at Mohawk College.

I would truly recommend this fantastic program cause not only does it teach you to be more independent, but it also will help you apply to the next program that you are thinking of doing for the rest of your college experience. I will always remember the skills that I have learned and apply them to future work.

- Brandon N. '24

Default image

This program offers you the incredible opportunity to meet new people, gain some very valuable skills such as how to use technology or how to write a proper resume, and it allows you to get help with your assignments, because there are many people there to support you and are interested in your success. It will give you that boost, that reassurance you need, to be successful in post-secondary for those who may have doubted that post-secondary was for them. Most importantly though, it gives you the chance to gain some employment skills through a work placement. Skills such as professionalism, or just learning how to deal with work culture and the rules of the workplace. I think you should consider Career Pathways, you won't regret it, and you will have come out of it both smarter and better than you were before and also feeling much more confident about yourself as well.

- Luca R. '24
