Afraz is a professor of Business Analytics & Data Management at the McKeil School of Business. She is also serving as the Program Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate Program: Analytics for Business Decision Making.
Afraz holds a Master of Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence. For doctoral research, she proposed and implemented a pioneering model for the social-media-based sentiment analysis of morphologically rich languages. This research is recognized internationally through various peer-reviewed publications.
Afraz is a computer science professional with over twenty years of university/college-level teaching, curriculum development, and research experience. She is committed to Outcome Based Education and a strong advocate of learner-centered teaching. In 2015, based on her account of professional practice in higher education she received recognition as a Higher Education Academy Fellow.
Afraz has more than twenty publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
