Get Ready for Training Night will be held on Thursday, August 22nd from 04:00 pm - 07:00 pm at the front lobby. Our students are highly encouraged to attend the Get Ready for Training Night. It is a great opportunity for students to speak with various service areas in person to get their questions answered before their first day. Sessions will be conducted on this day along with a guided campus tour.

Service Areas that are available on Get Ready For Training Night are: Service Canada, Accessible Learning Services and Testing Centre, Health and Wellness Centre, Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship Community Hub, Registration and Records, One Card - Campus Store, Mohawk Students’ Association (MSA), IT Support, Digital Skills, Sustainability Office, Adult Basic Education Association, and Student Life.

  2. - Service Canada, Employment Insurance (EI) Help - Understanding Employment Insurance and your responsibilities. It is important that people understand the benefits available to them, and where to go if problems crop up. The session will include information about the EI application process, how long the application takes, when do students receive their benefits, and the grants which are still available now.  
  3. -Using MyCanvas - Digital Skills

    MyCanvas is Mohawk’s online learning platform. Staff will help you get started using MyCanvas and its many features so that you are prepared for your semester start. 

  4. -Accessibility & Skills Support - Accessible Learning Services

    The Accessible Learning Services (ALS) team works collaboratively with faculty and college stakeholders to identify and implement strategies to ensure that all apprentices have an equal opportunity to achieve their educational goals. Our Team works one on one with apprentices to develop appropriate classroom and testing accommodations and offer support in-person or virtually.

  5. -Strategies for School Stress (For students, caregivers and partners) - Health and Wellness Centre

    Our Counselling staff are here to support you! Attend this session to learn our top 5 strategies to help you focus on your academic and life goals to be successful during your apprenticeship journey. 

  6. -Upgrading your Skills for Success - Adult Basic Education Association 

    The Adult Basic Education Association (ABEA) is the adult learning network in Hamilton.  Do you need to upgrade your skills to prepare for work or in-class training?  Join us to learn how we can help you identify your skills, connect with services and develop a plan to reach your goals.

  7. -Exploring Your Schedule - Student Life

    Get ahead of the curve and attend this informative session on all things scheduling. Staff will help you access your timetable prior the start of your training. We will also provide information on how to properly read the layout and further information provided on your schedule.
