The Celebration of Learning recognizes outstanding students who exemplify some or all of Mohawk College’s Institutional Learning Outcomes and values. Students who apply for or are nominated for one of the awards below are communicators, collaborators, critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens who are involved in the Mohawk community and beyond.
When applying for an award or nominating someone else, students and nominators should consider both the criteria listed above and the additional, award-specific criteria listed below. Student applicants are also encouraged to showcase their commitment to building a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) by attaching their CCR transcript to their application.

Academic Excellence Awards
Students nominated in this category are recognized for outstanding achievement and/or their positive contribution within their program of study. Students nominated for an academic award are thoughtful problem solvers who work well with their peers. They are involved in community outreach and demonstrate a passion for life-long learning.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Students must be working towards a credential at Mohawk College (certificate, diploma, post-graduate certificate).

Centre for Community Partnerships & Learning
Commitment to Education Award
This award recognizes a student from Community Partnerships & Learning who displays a strong commitment to education and demonstrates resilience in their pursuit of learning. The recipient of this award is a leader among their peers or in the community and positively contributes to Mohawk’s learning environment in a City School, Academic Upgrading, or LINC classroom.
Other requirements: Must be academically successful students who have been registered in a City School, Academic Upgrading or LINC program within the past two years.

Co-operative Education & Experiential Learning
Co-operative Education & Work-Integrated Learning Award
This award recognizes a student who has positively impacted their workplace, academic institution, community, and themselves during a co-op work term or placement (field/clinical/practicum).
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must have completed a co-op work term or placement between January and December 2024.
Important Deadline: Nominations due January 5, 2025.
Recipient may also be eligible for provincial ($750) and national ($1,000) awards related to co-operative education and work-integrated learning. To be considered for these awards, nominees must submit: resume, employer endorsed letter, & one-page personal statement

IDEAWORKS
Applied Research Award of Excellence
The Applied Research Award of Excellence recognizes a student who works with IDEAWORKS as a co-op student, volunteer or as part of a capstone course. The recipient of this award has made a significant contribution to the success of an applied research project and has demonstrated the ability to share ideas, contribute to a team environment, and present a research project and outcomes. The recipient is a problem solver who works to meet the needs of community and/or industry partners. This student also demonstrates an understanding of how research can be used to overcome societal and economic challenges.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must be currently working towards a Mohawk College credential (diploma, degree, designation, certificate).

Accessibility Leadership Award
The Accessibility Leadership Award recognizes a student who demonstrates advocacy, resiliency, contributes to student wellness, and strives to foster a learning environment that is inclusive and welcoming to ensure dignity, integration and equal opportunity for all College community members.

Alumni Relations
Alumni Outstanding Student Leader Award
This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated early leadership qualities in their chosen field of studies and who are highly engaged in the College and community. The student who receives this award is passionate about their experience here at Mohawk, collaborates with fellow students, and values lifelong learning.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must be registered as full-time student.

Athletics and Recreation
Outstanding Recreation Participant Award
The recipient of this award is a member of an intramural team or is a recreation participant in the current academic year who shows a commitment to sport and community. The award recipient is active in the college or local community in volunteer or leadership roles.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must be an intramural or recreational athletics participant at Mohawk College.

Outstanding Varsity Athlete Award
The recipient of this award is a member of the varsity program in the current academic year who shows commitment to sport and the community. The award recipient is active in the college and community in various volunteer and leadership roles.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must be a varsity athlete at Mohawk College.

Campus Health & Wellness Award
This award recognizes a student who has made a significant contribution to promoting health and wellness on campus. Students nominated for this award exemplify their approach to whole campus wellness through participation in wellness activities, leadership in wellness initiatives, peer to peer programming, and contributing to a healthy campus community.
Minimum GPA: 75%

Indigenous Education & Student Services
Indigenous Leadership Award
This award is presented to an Indigenous student who has demonstrated leadership, humility and lifting up of others and who is highly engaged within the College and community. In the spirit of communication, collaboration, and responsible citizenship, the winner of this award promotes holistic well-being, cultural understanding, and the Indigenous community. The recipient must be in good academic standing.
Other requirements: Must be self-identified Indigenous (FNMI) Student.

International Student Leader Award
This award is presented to an International student who serves as a role model to other students. They demonstrate dedication to their academic studies, their peers, the College as well as their community in their activities in-class and out.
Minimum GPA: 75%

Learning Support Centre Leadership Award
This award recognizes a student leader for their outstanding contributions to the Learning Support Centre team. This student leader exemplifies strong communication and collaboration skills while providing academic peer-to-peer support. This highly engaged and dedicated leader not only excels in their studies, they empower students to reach their academic goals while promoting student success at Mohawk College.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must be a current leader with the LSC.

Residence Citizenship Award
Celebrates exceptional students who have not only embraced the institution's core values but have also demonstrated outstanding engagement within the residential community. This award recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond to foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within Mohawk College Residence, contributing to the well-being and overall experience of their fellow residents. Through their active involvement, leadership, and commitment to creating a vibrant living environment, recipients of the Residence Citizenship Award embody the spirit of responsible and engaged citizenship within Mohawk's Residence community.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must reside in the Mohawk Residence.

This award recognizes outstanding contributions by an MSA student leader. This leader is being recognized for having made a significant impact towards realizing the MSA Vision and Mission. This leader exemplifies the MSA Values while excelling in their own studies.

Other requirements: Must be a current student leader with the MSA.

This award recognizes outstanding contributions made by an MSA Member who is being recognized for having made a significant impact on either the College Community or the local community they live/work in.

Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Impact Award
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award is awarded to a student who has made significant contributions towards promoting and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion and human rights at Mohawk College, both on campus and in the virtual environment. Please review the college’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan for more information and also the EDI resources found on MyMohawk.
The recipient of this award must be active in one or more of the following areas within the College:
- Contributing to the advancement, promotion and fostering of equity, diversity inclusion, anti-oppression and social justice awareness and education.
- Demonstrating an appreciation for and the celebration of Equity Diversity Inclusion within the College environment.
- Contributing to a more welcoming and safer environment and working to dismantle racism and other forms of oppression and discrimination.
- Fostering intercultural collaborations and communications within and among students, student activities and student groups.

The MoCrew Award is presented to a student who displays outstanding leadership qualities, supports fellow students, and positively impacts the spirit and energy of the Mohawk College community.

This award is presented to a student volunteer who has made a significant contribution of their time and who has made an outstanding effort towards supporting community at Mohawk College or beyond.

Student & Graduate Employment Award
This award recognizes a student leader for their outstanding contributions to the Student and Graduate Employment team. This student leader is a strong ambassador for the department and actively supports the student experience in all of our service offerings. This student leader also demonstrates a high commitment to SGE team values.
Minimum GPA: 75%
Other requirements: Must be a student leader with Student and Graduate Employment Services.

Sustainability
Sustainability Award
The Sustainability Award is presented to a student who goes above and beyond to advance sustainability. This student leads by example and is committed to engaging and inspiring others to adopt sustainable solutions. Students who receive the Sustainability Award are passionate about a range of sustainability topics such as local food, responsible waste management, active transportation, renewable energy, and more.
