CEO and Founder, Tradetraks Inc.

Jason Herd is an entrepreneur helping businesses in the trades be more efficient and maximize their profits.

Jason is founder and CEO of Tradetraks Inc., a Hamilton-based software provider that automates and streamlines the management operations, finances, health and safety, human resources and internal communications for construction and service trades industry companies.

A graduate of both the Electrical Engineering Technician – Power and Electrician – Construction & Maintenance (Apprenticeship) programs, he founded Tradetraks in 2019 and plans to expand into the U.S. market.

The Tradetraks platform is making a difference in the industry.

Jason was named among the top 40 under 40 by SiteNews, a construction trade publication, in 2022, which called him “a disruptor in the construction software space.”

He has long been on the fast track, starting in the electrical field at the age of 16 and was among the first youths enrolled in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program in its inaugural year. He went on to finish Mohawk’s two-year program in 18 months, getting licensed at the age of 21 and handling the planning, estimating, and negotiations of the electrical contract for Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton when he was 29.

Before starting his own business, Jason grew his career at Fairway Electrical, working his way up from electrical apprentice, to project manager and estimator, to vice-president and director of business development, and finally serving as president.

When Jason tried to solve gaps in Fairway’s operational processes through technology, he couldn’t find a ready-made solution management application. So, he developed one himself, detailing the architecture and functionality of the application, assembling a Canadian-based team and creating Tradetraks.

My parents came here with 80 Deutschmarks (approximately $67 CDN at the time) and we [arrived in] Quebec to restart our lives.”
