What courses should I register for?
FULL-TIME Studies:
If you would like to complete the program as a FULL-TIME student, you should register for 5-7 courses per a semester. Most students choose to take all courses found in each semester to graduate within four semesters.
PART-TIME Studies:
If you would like to complete the program as a PART-TIME student, you should begin with LIBRLT110 (Introduction to Libraries and the Information Industry). In addition to LIBRLT110, we strongly recommend students register in 1-2 additional courses from the first semester, however you are free to take as many courses as you would like as long as course prerequisites are met. Program completion should be within 4-5 years to ensure you meet graduation requirements. Programs often see changes to their program of studies to match industry standards, and students must fulfill the program of studies in effect at the time of their graduation. If you would like guidance on program completion or an update on which courses you have remaining in your studies, please connect with us at celibrary [at] mohawkcollege.ca (celibrary[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca).
Do courses have prerequisites?
The program can be completed on a part-time basis or full-time basis, however many courses in first and second semesters are prerequisites other courses within the program. It is strongly recommend that students complete the program by choosing courses in the order that they appear in the Program of Studies, starting with semester one courses. If you have any questions about prerequisites or program completion, please email at celibrary [at] mohawkcollege.ca (celibrary[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca).
