Application Form

GLO Trip Proposal

 

Assessment Criteria:

  • The trip activities are of value to students and provide opportunities for intercultural learning, specifically the opportunity to achieve at least one global competency and contribution to achieving at least one United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG)
  • Realistic methods to select students and promote the opportunity are outlined
  • There is clear rationale and benefits for the trip to take place in the identified location; the location is one of the College's target regions for partnership development (this is preferred but not a requirement)
  • If applicable - the partner is reputable and has experience in the region; partner/host/community will benefit from the project and any negative impacts and mitigation strategies have been identified
  • Budget is realistic and trip will be affordable to students
  • Risks have been identified along with mitigation strategies for those risks
  • There are opportunities for continuation of the partnership, if applicable

 

 

The Proposal Process

 

Stage 1: Trip Proposal

Step 1: Review the GLO Framework and the GLO FAQs.

Step 2: Complete the application form and obtain the required signatures. You may also wish to review the assessment criteria for an overview of how proposals will be evaluated.

Step 3: Email your signed trip proposal to glo [at] mohawkcollege.ca (glo[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca) before the deadline.

Step 4: The trip application form will be reviewed and evaluated by the GLO Selection Committee. Additional information may be requested from the applicant.

Step 5: If your application is approved by the selection committee, you will be notified of next steps.

Stage 2: Travel Funding Agreement & Trip Preparation

  • The Travel Funding Agreement will outline the roles and responsibilities for all parties involved
  • As per procurement policy, the successful application will need to obtain three competitive quotes. The faculty member and Mohawk International will work together to obtain these quotes once the successful application has been determined. During the application stage, the travel funding is an approximation and an exercise

Stage 3: Travel

Trip to take place during Winter 2025 break week.

Stage 4: Post Trip Debrief & Trip Report

Trip Debrief: The faculty member/trip lead(s) and students (if possible) will meet with Mohawk International staff to discuss the trip activities and outcomes and provide feedback to staff.

Trip Report: The faculty member/trip leader(s) must prepare and submit a trip report within one month of returning to Canada. The report must include a summary of the activities that took place and the outcomes of those activities.

Student participants will also be required to submit a reflection about their experiences and how the trip impacted them.
