The College Student Success and Innovation Centre has hosted an evolving team of researchers who have helped identify and design interventions, coordinate research and development activities and facilitate knowledge sharing within Mohawk College, the Ontario college sector and beyond.

Nair Lacruz, MEd (she/her)
Senior Director, Academic Initiatives & CSSIC

Nair joined Mohawk College as a Support Staff member in 2002. She has served in various roles, including as Faculty and Associate Dean, and has played a vital role in the success of many college-wide initiatives with an emphasis on projects focused on student success, access strategies and workplace culture. Nair has served on several college committees, including UCCA, Academic Leadership Team (ALT) co-chair, General Education Reform, Dual Credit programming and the Completion Strategy. Outside of the college, she serves as chair of the Board of Directors for the Hamilton Foundation for Student Success formally Hamilton Wentworth District School Board Foundation. Nair holds a Masters of Education from Ontario Tech University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from York University.
Pamela Ingleton, PhD (she/her)
Professor, Learning Outcomes Assessment Consultant

Pamela joined the CSSIC in 2018. Since then, she has led projects on essential skills articulation, translation, and assessment as part of HEQCO’s Learning Outcomes Assessment Consortium, as principal investigator of the SSHRC-funded Future Ready Skills Translator research project, and as co-investigator of Material Handling 4.0, one of the 10 innovation projects funded by the Future Skills Centre. While serving as Director of the CSSIC, she launched the CSSIC Research Fellowship, a unique funding opportunity for external scholars whose research is positioned to promote student success. She is currently the principal investigator of a SSHRC-funded project focused on better supporting college students with caregiving responsibilities for children under the age of 18. She has worked as an instructor, researcher, educational developer, and faculty support specialist in both college and university contexts for over 18 years and holds a PhD in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University.
Megan Waltenbury, OCT, MEd (she/her) (on secondment)

Since April 2015, Megan has worked at Mohawk College coordinating the design and delivery of a wide range of initiatives and research projects related to student success, access, and retention. As a trained teacher with a Masters of Education in Administration and Leadership, Megan synthesizes her experience teaching in public and post-secondary education with her passion for student affairs to support the Centre’s operations and research projects in her role as Research and Special Projects Coordinator. Megan is always excited to connect with those interested in learning more about the innovative work and research the Centre is leading!
Vicky (Victoria) Wylie, OCT (she/her)
Educational Programming Operations Supervisor

Since 2017, Vicky has worked at Mohawk College as a Student Success Coach, PASS Program Support Officer, and more recently, Acting Manager of the Learning Support Centre. She is excited to join CSSIC to supervise the Student-Caregiver Tandem Educational Programming project. With a wide range of experience in teaching, leadership, and data collection and analysis, Vicky is dedicated to developing programming that is designed to support underserved student populations. As a certified Supervisor of Supplemental Instruction, she is eager to utilize her skillset to complement the CSSIC team. Vicky recently presented at the 13th International Conference for Supplemental Instruction, and is undergoing certification to become the first International Certified Trainer of Supplemental Instruction at a Canadian college.
Juvania Bromfield-Allen
Student-Caregiver Success Project Ambassador
Juvania is a student at Mohawk College who is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Health. She began her role as Student-Caregiver Success Project Ambassador in October 2024 where she aims to support college students who are also caregivers of children aged 0-17 years old. Her role involves gathering the perspectives, needs and priorities of the students who are also caregivers that will inform project activities. Juvania has several years of diverse experience in social work, including healthcare, public administration, and national security. Additionally, she has experience as a research officer in her home country Jamaica, collaborating closely with parents and their dependents. Juvania is excited to collaborate and share her unique perspective as a student-caregiver herself.
