The Grading System

The College uses a percentage grading system of 1 to 100%, and the course passing grade for most courses is 50%. Promotion to the next semester requires a weighted grade point average of 60% subject to the rules outlined in the Program Promotion and Graduation Requirements Policy PDF.

Below are other transcript designations used by Mohawk College. Details and the uses of each are fully defined in the Grading and Transcript Policy PDF. This policy also establishes the criteria for award of Dean's Honours and Honours Graduate designations.

Previous Grading Systems

Reflected on transcripts with grades posted prior to Fall 2009.

Please note that courses taken prior to Fall 2009 required 60% for a passing grade. Any course below 60%, therefore, is a non-passing grade and the course needs to be retaken.
