"Rich and I both learned a great deal during our time in the Human Resource Management Program.  It provided us with the fundamental background to succeed as Learning and Development Coordinators at ArcelorMittal Dofasco.  This program taught more than just the foundational knowledge as it helped develop many of the competencies that are expected of employees in the workforce.  Not only were the teachers highly competent in their respected fields, but they were also extremely helpful and approachable.  They were able to provide valuable insight into the industry and the assignments provided a realistic preview of what to expect in the work force.  This preparation allowed us to hit the ground running and succeed early on, which is highly important in today’s labour market.

We both enjoyed a number of great experiences throughout the program.  One of the best things about this program is that you are able to connect with many of the other students and faculty as you are required to work closely with one another.  To this day many of us have remained in contact and continue to help one another succeed."

Kevin and Richard, Human Resources Management, 2013

Christina

"The Human Resources Management Program was a valuable educational achievement and helped facilitate my first professional experience in HR. I really appreciated the structure of the program and the relevant practical experience gained through various projects and case studies in combination with the most recent theories and research related to HR. The program provided me with a strong foundation of knowledge to practice Human Resources Management not only in Canada but also globally. Additionally, the various group projects helped me to strengthen my team work and communication skills, which add great value in the workplace. The internship component of the program also proved to be a great experience. I am fortunate to have been hired at Mondelēz International Canada Inc. (formally Kraft Foods Inc.) post internship. I work alongside an incredible HR team, two of which are graduates of the Human Resources Management at Mohawk College. I am thankful to have been part of the HR program at Mohawk College as it has prepared me well for the world of HR!"

"I have a great respect for the Mohawk College approach to practical education.   Each of the students we've sponsored over the years has made a positive contribution to our operation and lasting impression with our colleagues. Exposing students to many real learning and developing situations is a personal goal for me.  I encourage Companies to support these interns as we learn from them as they do from us and that's a win-win for all."

Tony Saltarelli, Human Resources Manager, Mondelēz International Canada Inc.

Tanvi

"As a student at Mohawk College I was taught most essential skills and knowledge that were easily transferable to my job. The theoretical knowledge in combination with the assignments prepares the students to handle multiple priorities with great deal of patience and hard work. Additionally, the program also provides excellent career services and gives an opportunity to all students to get critical career advice. The interview processes help in building important professional relationships, and the placements provide hands on experience in diverse fields of HR. Studying at Mohawk College has greatly influenced my work ethic and competencies. I was able to learn new processes and contribute efficiently to the team. As a result, my seven weeks placement turned into a contract position!

It was through the program at Mohawk that I got the opportunity to work at such a great company! Every student in this program gets an equal opportunity to build some of the best professional and personal relationships. I hope the Human Resources Graduate Certificate program at Mohawk College, continues to provide excellent HR Practitioners to the Canadian Workforce."

Tanvi, 2013 Graduate of the HRM Post Graduate Certificate Program

"My decision to undertake The Human Resources Management post-graduate program at Mohawk College has been a very rewarding one. Right from the very start we were highly engaged and exposed to tremendous depths of practical knowledge. The professors facilitated a positive learning environment and were always available to guide us along. Hence when I got accepted into ArcelorMittal Dofasco, a world class steel manufacturing company for the HR placement program I was eager and prepared to explore the Canadian work environment for the very first time as an international student. Getting retained after the placement program was the icing on the cake. Mohawk College has given me the platform to build a network of indispensable professional friendships and equipped me with the knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences to relentlessly pursue a lifelong career in the Human Resources Management."

"The Human Resources Management post-grad program has provided me with an excellent learning experience and has prepared me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to pursue a career and become successful in the field of Human Resources.  The knowledgeable instructors are always willing to help, have provided the most current information and have shared their valuable experiences from the field.  They have offered a realistic insight into the world of HR, preparing me for the issues and decisions I will be making in the future.  This program has given me a great opportunity to build a network of friends who I will continue to associate with as we move into the professional world. Through a positive learning environment, up-to-date theoretical knowledge and practical experience, Mohawk’s HRM program has prepared me for a dynamic career in Human Resources. "
