Why do our Co-Curricular Record (CCR) positions list competencies? The competency statements relating to each position explain in a tangible way what the students have learned and/or how they have gained experience by participating in the activity.
Students can use this language when describing their experience and reflecting on their growth in interviews, applications, and when making future decisions regarding personal development.
Communication
e.g.:
- Delivered effective presentations
- Utilized active listening and persuasion skills to assist others in understanding different viewpoints, resolve conflict, solve problems, or foster positive change
Collaboration
e.g.:
- Used and provided feedback constructively to work across differences, identify opportunities, negotiate challenges, and resolve conflict
Continuous Learning
e.g.:
- Independently pursued knowledge, experiences, interests outside the classroom that contributed to personal growth
- Acquired and implemented new study and learning skills
Critical Thinking
e.g.:
- Applied a systemic approach and used a variety of thinking skills to solve problems
- Evaluated multiple sources to assess credibility and logic
Responsible Citizenship
e.g.:
- Worked effectively in a cross-cultural team/environment
- Engaged in self-reflection to set personal goals, identify values, and make decisions
