Our Facilities

healthcare simulation crib with health monitors

There's a time and place for everything

The CHSR is designed to meet the needs of your simulation experience, through the use of differentiated, optimized environments. All of these spaces have been fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual recording capacity to allow for various options of live-feeds and post-activity review.

There's a name and face for everyone.

The CHSR boasts a diverse fleet of high fidelity simulators that cater to most patient populations and simulation scenarios. They afford learners opportunities to hone their clinical skills and understanding through the accurate replication of healthcare situations within a controlled setting.

Our Spaces

CHSR High Fidelity Suite 4 interior setup with two simulators, each in a hospital bed. Also visible are various equipment such as medcarts, intravenous infusion pump, vitals monitors, and recording cameras

High Fidelity Simulation (HFS) Suites

Acute-care patient rooms

The CHSR houses four HFS Suites which have two Simulator (i.e. patient) setups each. The Suites are designed to replicate the acute-care environment of a hospital room with relevant equipment utilized by various healthcare disciplines. Whether your learner group is small enough to be served by a single Suite, or you have a large group that necessitates running all four Suites simultaneously; our Simulation Specialist team will help keep your simulation-based experience consistent.

Apartments for Activities of Daily Living (ADL)

For that 'home-care' feel

Recognizing that healthcare-specific experiential learning transcends the bedside of a hospital/clinic environment, the CHSR has two apartment-styled spaces that afford learners the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills within a home-care setting. Learners can help simulated participants navigate their ADLs in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom- to allow for a broader range of preparation within community/residential healthcare.

Diverse Modality - Flexible Space

Experience 'Virtual Reality' or good, old regular 'Reality'

As we strive to keep pace with advancing technologies, the CHSR recognizes the benefits of incorporating VR experiences for our users. Of course, we also understand the benefits of the 'tried-and-tested' experiential learning methodologies which involve mannequins and simulated participants. Thus, to meet the best of both worlds, we offer a flexible space that is capable of meeting whichever modality is preferred.

Debriefing Spaces

To promote reflective thinking.

According to INACSL's HSSOBP 'The Debriefing Process': conscious reflection, the self-monitoring or insightfulness that occurs within or after an SBE, allows learners the opportunity to identify knowledge gaps and understand contradictions between one's vision or actions and actual practice. Debriefing should be conducted in an environment with adequate facilities to allow for privacy, open discussion, trust, review, and confidentiality (INACSL, 2021).

Our Simulators

The CHSR avails 12 high fidelity healthcare patient simulators that enable realistic, interactive and versatile simulated-based experiences. Also available are a handful of low-to-mid fidelity mannequins which allow for the replication of various skills practice through realistic anatomy, articulation, and clinical functionality. Here is a brief introduction to some of the simulators available at the CHSR.
