CIRKL is committed to fostering collaboration, relational approaches to research, and reflecting Indigenous knowledges, practices, and priorities in research approaches.
In 2024, we conducted a consultation project with colleagues at Mohawk College, and community partners in Hamilton and Six Nations to establish an understanding of how we as a college should be carrying out research with Indigenous communities, regarding Indigenous-focused subjects, or which touches lands and waters. From those consultations we will be creating a document which will help both Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers focus their efforts, access support materials, and guide their research to address community-identified needs.
